Robin
Pearson, Chairman
Robin has lived in
Prickwillow since 2003. He works at Cambridge
University Department of Veterinary Medicine.
Before moving to Prickwillow, Robin lived in Wicken where he served on
the Village Hall Management committee for 3 years. Since coming to
Prickwillow he has become a member of the Village Hall Management
Team and in 2004 was the main force behind the Prickwillow Beer
Festival. Robin is currently the “Designated Premise Supervisor” for
the Village Hall with regard to sales of alcohol.
Other activities Robin is involved with are theatrical productions with
the Swavesey RADSOC, Tuba player with the Cottenham Brass Band and
Field sports.
Robin is pleased to be associated with the Prickwillow Village Council.
He and Angela help considerably in keeping the average down to an
acceptable level.
Angela
Shipp, Treasurer
Founder
Member, Prickwillow Village Council
I
have lived in the village for 22 years. I am married with two sons.
When they were small I served on the Village Hall committee, St Peter’s
Church committee, the playgroup committee and was a member of the
Women’s Institute. I could also be seen tending the bar at Hiam’s
sports and social club for a brief while.
I am
proud to be associated with Prickwillow Village Council as I believe it
can accomplish great things for the village. I really enjoy the sense
of community that the village has to offer.
Prior
to living
in Prickwillow I lived and worked in Cambridge. I now work, part-time
for a well known high street bank in Soham.
I am also
membership secretary for Ely and District CAMRA and am Chairperson
of
Mildenhall Sea Cadet Unit. In my spare time I enjoy card-making and
even dabble a little with cake-making, purely in an amateur capacity,
of course.
Cllr Jackie Petts,
Secretary
Jackie is a founder member of Prickwillow Village Council and is
elected Member for Ely East on East Cambridgeshire District Council
which
includes Prickwillow, Queen Adelaide, Stuntney and a large part of the
historic centre of Ely.
She has lived in Prickwillow for over 23 years and now runs a small map
and tourist guide publishing company - Cambridge Mapmakers - as well as
a group of media doctors.
With her late husband, Peter, she set up and ran The Herbary
Prickwillow for some ten years and the couple also ran a radio PR
company.
She has a daughter, stepson and lots of grandchildren.
Wendy
Wilson
Wendy has lived in
Prickwillow since 2006. She is
married with two grown up sons. In January 2007 she was a founder
member of Prickwillow Village Council and is also a committee member of
Hiam Sports and Social Club.
Previously
Wendy lived in Hayes, Middlesex, where she was a Folk Group
Leader for 12 years and involved in the Scouting movement for 11 years,
five of those spent as a Cub Scout Leader. She was also a founder
member of her local residents’ association, acting as secretary. Wendy
believes that you have to become involved if want to maintain and
improve your quality of life within the community.
Cllr Jean Pearson
Jean has lived in
Prickwillow since November 1999.
She
is married with two grown up children.
She
is a director of a publishing company in Ely, which she
has served for over 20 years.
In
January 2007 she was a founder member of Prickwillow Village Council
and in May of the same year, she became a member of City Of
Ely Council, representing the Ely East Ward, the area in which
Prickwillow lies.
She
has no religious leanings but believes that we can live good, meaningful
lives, without a religious or superstitious dimension. She feels that
we can make sense of the world using reason, experience and shared
human values and that we must seek to make the best of the one life we
have by creating meaning and purpose for ourselves. She strongly
believes that we should take responsibility for our actions and work
with others for the common good. It
is this
basic, inclusive, humanist philosophy that Jean
brings to the role of
City and Village Councillor. She does her very
best to improve the
quality of life of all those she represents and takes her two civic
positions very seriously.
If
anyone ever
has a problem that they think that she might be able to help them with,
she will be only too willing to try, or if it does not come within her
remit, to direct them to someone from another authority who is better
placed to give the level of assistance required.
