It has been discovered, via the Land Registry that Hereward Housing owns

The derelict land at the top end of Kingdon Avenue How we will proceed in this matter will be explored at a future date.

Jackie said that she had spoken with someone from ECDC  regarding the cutting of various grassed areas in the village. 3)        Jean had issued reports in advance to all members, of her attendance at         meetings held in September and October

Jean and Tony visited the PCSO at his surgery on Sunday; he has put the date of our January meeting in his diary and assured us he would change his shift pattern to be able to attend. They learned from him that it is not illegal to park on common land. If we wish to stop vehicles parking on the green areas in the village, we are going to somehow have to make people aware that we are trying to give the Village a face lift and want the grass mowed regularly and that vehicles parked there will stop this being able to happen.

Jean has requested funds for the cleaning materials needed for the War Memorial. A letter has been sent to the council requesting this. We have also written thanking them for approving our request for a Dog Bin which is to be placed on Old Bank.

ii)      Frohocks had said they would be happy to donate plants/bulbs. Wendy had been to see Carol to discuss but had asked that this await SoniaÕs return from holiday. The War Memorial has been cleaned by Marcus but repairs are needed. Tony will contact the War Memorial Trust regarding possibility of obtaining a grant for this work.

iii)     It was suggested that Prickwillow Village Council should join Cambridgeshire ACRE at a cost of £25 a year. Vote taken on joining, unanimous. Jean to organize paperwork.

iv)        Various inhabitants have reported that Public Rights Of Way are obstructed. It was agreed that Pat and Mike would investigate paths further, photos taken as evidence. We can then present these to the County Council Officer in charge and request action to be taken.

vi)       Emails to be sent to Jackie with any website links to promote Prickwillow.

vii)      Photos and biographies are needed to add to the site, letting all know about members of the Council.

viii)    The poppy collection was a success, general consensus was the village was glad to see that the door-to-door collection had been reinstated and generosity had been shown to those collecting. Dawn Hopkin will be laying the wreath on behalf of the British Legion on 11 November and Tony will be laying a wreath on behalf of the Prickwillow Village Council. Names of those fallen will be read out, then two minutes silence observed.

5)      Presentation by Cllr Hobbs

Cllr Hobbs discussed the issue of affordable housing and how the lack of this was driving people out. He set forward various ideas currently being pursued by local government to encourage local people to remain within their village environs rather than having to seek affordable housing away from their roots. Anthea Davison will attend the AGM in January to further discuss this matter.

6)      Any Other Business

Notice to be placed in notice board, announcing the AGM and inviting local residents to join the Council.

It was noted that speeding throughout the village was still a matter of concern; it was felt that something would only be done once an accident had occurred. Cllr Hobbs said that there was money for traffic calming; Ely Council would be pleased to hear of any relevant measures which Prickwillow Village Council thought should be taken but would have to take into account the fact that farm machinery was regularly seen on the highway.
